Just as some variation on The Golden Rule is found all across the known universe, so too is this sentiment.

The Universe is lawful. Though we may not always know why a specific event happens as it does, we can rest assured that present circumstances are the inevitable, lawful result of prior events. Even wormholes and “future causation” are part of this matrix.

Sentient life is no less lawful. Our consciousness, our “inner lives,” are also embraced by causation. This isn’t some straightjacket we wear; it is the very foundation of our transformation.

Because if we’re not happy with our present circumstances, there are specific steps we can take to change them—however painful or difficult they might be. Our realization of this fact should empower us.

It is also empowering simply to recognize in all these laws a deeper, unseen Reality which underlies the universe. And since every event is an expression of that Reality, there are no accidents. Spiritual Paths acknowledge this as “grace,” or “the Divine Plan.” Events conspire toward Life, toward growth, toward wholeness.

And as it is with the universe, so it is with you.

I will live as if everything that happens is purposeful. My life and my growth are as natural and necessary to The Universe as they are to me.
